VIDYA supports hundreds of women and children from the slums of Delhi, Mumbai & Goa. This is made possible only by the generosity of our donors. Because volunteers do much of our overhead and administration work, over Rs. 85 of every Rs. 100 donated to VIDYA directly benefits the slum communities. That generosity has never been more crucial to VIDYA's survival than it is today. Our current rent-free home at IIT Delhi (BAL VIHAR school and crèche) will be unavailable for our use after March 2005, as the Open Air Theatre is being reclaimed by IIT Delhi. Years of searching for alternative land have not been fruitful, due to insufficient funds. Cheaper sites are too far away and therefore run the risk of losing children's attendance. We are close to securing more suitable (but more expensive) sites in Delhi, but for this we need your support. Your money will help women and children change the environment in which they live, and will also have a profound effect on you and your family's environment. Your sense of fulfilment will grow as you receive updates and progress reports about VIDYA, the move, and your choice in sponsorship. |
