VIDYA Mumbai inaugurates three Bhavishya-yaan centres
1. Lower Parel centre, 23rd September 2011 Inauguration of BY centre at Municipal school at Lower Parel (NM Joshi Marg). The program is supported by Rotary Club of Bombay.,who are also partnering Vidya in three other BY programs. Honourable Sheriff of Mumbai, Dr. Indu Shahani graced the occasion as the chief guest. Distinguished guests including Rotary President Mr Paul George and Chairman of the Bhavisyaan committee Mr Manoj Patodia were also present. A skit and a colourful dance performance by students from BY Colaba earned huge round of applause from the audience.
2. Vile Parle East, 24th September 2011 The BY program at Vile Parle (East) Municipal School is in partnership with Women India Association (WIA) and Rotary Club of Bombay West . The computer center was inaugurated by famous pop singer Sharon Prabhakar and members from Rotary club. Sharon Prabhakar inspired the students with her speech where she emphasized the importance of excellence and aiming high. Children of BY Banganga staged a beautifully choreographed dance. Audience was moved by the way the children spoke in the public forum about what they had gained from VIDYA.
3. Milind Nagar (Powai), 26th September 2011 The BY program here is in partnership with Rotary Club of Bombay Lakers and Sackhumvit Trust. The BY centre at Milind Nagar is the first of its kind. This BY program will not be operating inside a Municipal School but inside the community itself. This is an SRA community and houses amongst others people displaced during the Mumbai floods of 26th July 2006. Cabinet minister Mohammed Arif (Naseem) Khan inaugurated the centre and supported VIDYA's endeavour to address the lacunae of public education system through Bhavishya Yaan programs. He met members from Rotary Club of Bombay Lakers and VIDYA staff and volunteers who were present during the opening ceremony."
