VIDYA Mumbai Fundraiser
June 30th: Fundraising event at Tata Theatre, NCPA
VIDYA Mumbai hosted its first fundraiser in the city in collaboration with NCPA with a dance performance of the much acclaimed renowned Odissi dancer Ramli Ibrahim from Malaysia, on June 30th at Tata Theatre, NCPA. The event helped us to bring together VIDYA's well-wishers and supporters on the same platform to strengthen VIDYA’s vision of an inclusive society. The evening commenced with the VIDYA anthem beautifully rendered by the children. Unfazed and confident, at their request, the entire hall stood up in harmony and the applause lingered long! The Sutra theatre's performance was beauty and passion personified-a vision of forever! Time stood still and art once again showed what a great leveller it was.
A photo exhibition, put together by volunteers from Whistling Woods International, brought VIDYA to life within NCPA! A VIDYA student Priyanka, along with her teacher, also an VIDYA beneficiary at some point, effortlesslly conversed and talked about VIDYA to all visitors who took an interest in the exhibition. Made us proud. The display stalls of products made by women at VIDYA added colour.
There was a lot of learning through out the planning and execution stages of this fundraiser. The event enriched VIDYA with new friends, and strenghthened existing relationships. VIDYA Mumbai has catapulted into its next phase of growth and awareness
June 29th: Event at Worli Municipal School
As a prelude to VIDYA Mumbai's First Fundraiser event, a private performance and lec-dem was done on the Odissi by Ramli Ibrahim and his Sutra Dance Theatre troupe for the children of VIDYA at Ambedkar Municipal School in Worli on June 29th. The workshop introduced Odissi and Bharatanatyam to students. The session was interactive and a privilege to see the great master bridging gaps and connect through the universal idiom of dance.
